A master planned community (MPC) is a large scale development featuring a wide range of housing designs, prices and styles, an array of amenities, and multiple non-residential land uses. It is different from a straightforward subdivision in that it incorporates additional buildings, features and uses for the land beyond simply row after row of houses. It features a large number of recreational and commercial amenities, such as golf courses, tennis courts, parks, playgrounds, swimming pools, and even stores and restaurants over and above schools, office parks, large shopping centers and other businesses.
